Hi, I’m Brandon Uttley, founder of Web Business Freedom. I’m a web consultant, marketing and public relations professional with more than 20 years of experience.
I started Web Business Freedom (my second start-up venture) because I, too, have spent countless hours searching for better ways to build, maintain and promote businesses online—without requiring a lot of time, expense and technical expertise. (Yes, it’s ironic—spending tons of time to figure out how to save time.) I know how frustrating it is trying to sort through all the options.
I was involved in providing high-end web design and development for larger companies for many years. In the “early days,” most people were not able to build their own websites and needed professional help. And while this remains true for most big firms and complex sites, the fact is that web technology has changed dramatically.
It’s much easier for the average person or small business to build sites themselves, or hire inexpensive contractors as part of the process. All the tools are readily available—if you know where to look. More importantly, though—you need someone to help you choose between the good, the bad and the ugly resources.
That’s where Web Business Freedom comes in. Through this website and my personal consulting services, I’ll show you the best ways that I and others have learned to take control of your destiny on the web.

Brandon Uttley

Brandon Uttley founded Web Business Freedom in September 2008. Prior to that, he was co-founder and president of carbonhouse, inc., a leading web development firm. Previous positions included providing public relations counseling to a number of companies, ranging from major sports teams to Fortune 500 firms and bestselling authors.
Uttley earned the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) designation from Public Relations Society of America. He is currently vice president of the PRSA Charlotte chapter and a member of Entrepreneurs’ Organization. Uttley is a 1987 graduate of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at UNC-Chapel Hill.
Married with two small children, Uttley is using Web Business Freedom as the means to “live the dream” of the independent entrepreneur. Through the site, he chronicles the journey of how to start a business from scratch and use the web to follow your dreams to achieve greater happiness and financial independence.
